How do I find the surgeon?

What causes Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia results from an imbalance in hormone levels in which levels of estrogen (female hormones) are increased relative to levels of androgens (male hormones).

What are the symptoms of Gynecomastia?

The primary symptom of gynecomastia is enlargement of the male breasts. As mentioned before, gynecomastia is the enlargement of glandular tissue rather than fatty tissue. It is typically symmetrical in location with regard to the nipple and may have a rubbery or firm feel. Gynecomastia usually occurs on both sides but can be unilateral in some cases. The enlargement may be greater on one side even if both sides are involved. Tenderness and sensitivity may be present, although there is typically no severe pain.

Can gynecomastia be prevented?

Gynecomastia that occurs because of hormonal fluctuations with growth or aging cannot be prevented. Gynecomastia related to medical conditions can only be prevented to the extent that the underlying or responsible condition can be prevented.

Why should i wear a pressure garment?

Pressure garments are an absolute must after liposuction. You should expect to wear these garments for at least six to eight weeks minimum to allow the tissue and swelling to resolve. This assists with creating an even contour of the areas that were sculpted.

What can be done to prevent a hernia?

Most of the factors that lead to the development of hernias are beyond the control of the individual. Some of those factors are inherited and develop as the individual grows. The arrangement of the local tissues and their thickness and strength may greatly affect the relative risk of developing a hernia over a lifetime. However, that risk can be increased by failure to use good body mechanics when lifting, poor abdominal support posture, and weight-control problems.

Is Breast Augmentation right for me?

Breast augmentation is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else's desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image. Breast augmentation may be a good option for you if:

• You are physically healthy
• You have realistic expectations
• Your breasts are fully developed
• You are bothered by the feeling that your breasts are too small
• You are dissatisfied with your breasts losing shape and volume after pregnancy, weight loss, or with aging
• Your breasts vary in size or shape
• One or both breasts failed to develop normally

Am I a good candidate for abdominoplasty?

You may be a good candidate for abdominoplasty if you have one or more of the following conditions:

• excess or sagging abdominal skin
• an abdomen that protrudes and is out of proportion to the rest of your body
• abdominal muscles that have been separated and weakened
• excess fatty tissue that is concentrated in your abdomen

If you plan to become pregnant or lose weight in the future, you should discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Scarring from previous abdominal surgery may limit the results of your abdominoplasty.

How will my plastic surgeon evaluate me for abdominoplasty?

Your plastic surgeon may examine your abdomen while you are standing as well as lying down. Your skin tone and the degree of loose skin in the abdominal region will be assessed. Your surgeon also will evaluate the amount of excess fat in your abdomen and the condition of your abdominal muscles.

You should come to the consultation prepared to discuss your medical history. This will include information about any medical conditions, drug allergies, medical treatments you have received, pregnancies, previous surgeries and medications that you currently take. It is important for you to provide complete information.

Who Is a Good Candidate For a Chemical Peel?

Generally, fair-skinned and light-haired patients are ideal candidates for chemical peels. Darker skin types may also have good results, depending upon the type of problem being treated. However, the risk of an uneven skin tone after the procedure is increased.

Is liposuction a weight loss method?

No it is only a body contouring operation. It is used to get rid of diet aswell as exercise resistant areas of fat.

Who is a good candidate for liposuction?

A person whose skin has good elastic tone,near normal weight with isolated areas of fat accumulation is a good canditate. However age is not a factor. But the results are better with younger group of patients.

When can I get back to work?

The recovery time differs from patient to patient. It also depends upon the number of areas suctioned. Most of our patients start doing all their normal work by the end of 1st week.

When can I workout in the gym?

Depending on the areas treated,one can hit the gym in 2-4 weeks time.

What is the postoperative course?

Life style has to change dramatically.Dieting ,avoiding binge-eating,gym should be incorporated in to your schedule.Else you will end up putting fat again.

Can obese patients undergo liposuction?

If they are morbidly obese(Body mass index of 40). (BMI = the weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in metres).they are better candidates for bariatric surgery which is followed later by Liposculpturing.

Is the hair transplant surgery painful?

Not at all.It is completely done under local anesthesia.The tumescent technique is used to prolong the duration of anesthesia.One can even drive back home if it is done completely under local anesthesia.
If the patients opts for general anesthesia then it is safe to stay for few hours in the hospital .It is not advisable to drive his/her car then.

What are the instructions to be followed before surgery?

2 weeks before
stop aspirin,clopiliet,minoxidil,vitamin supplements if any Regular antihypertensives and antidiabetics can be taken normally with a sip of water.

1 day before
confirm your arrival. Nothing by mouth 6 hours prior to surgery.

On the day of surgery
Have a betadine scrub wash of your hair.

How many sessions of surgery will I need?

The sessions will depend on the severity of baldness.By each session of hair transplantation we aim to cover 20-25% of the normal density of the patient. With almost close to 50% one can satisfactorily cover most of the bald areas. There is a gap of 6 months before we plan another session.

What is the postoperative care I need to follow?

Scalp is left open with some ointment. Surgery cap is given to be worn.You are supposed to take a course of antibiotics and painkillers. You can have a shower with betadine shampoo from the 3rd Postoperative day.

When will my transplanted hair grow? when can I see the results?

Initially it takes 3-4 months for the hair to grow. The initial hair is soft but later turns coarse over the period of time.

When are the sutures removed if any removed?

They are removed in 2 weeks time from the back of your scalp.

Can we take hair from someone else and transplant?

Not possible.

Can other areas like eyebrow,moustache etc be transplanted?

Yes.The same principle is followed.
